Toanga Designs (Experimenting)

SALT DOUGH RECIPE

1/2 cup of salt
1/2 cup of water
1 cup of flour

HOW TO MAKE THE SALT DOUGH

Add the 1/2 cup of salt and 1 cup of flour to a bowl, and stir in the water adding it slowly.  You may not need all of the water. You want the dough to be dry. If it gets sticky add more flour. Knead the dough and then roll out and use as you want.

Part of your Hei Tiki research assignment was to make a collection of other Toanga (pendant) designs. Now you can use these to have a go at drawing/designing your own creation.

The salt dough is so that we can learn how to manipulate dough, soft pliable material into the shapes we want so they can be fixed by drying/baking in an oven and create our own pendant. Not carved but sculpted.

Take photos of the different parts of the process to record what you are doing.

Chilli Challenge 08/08/16

a. Add the digits of each of these multiples. What do you notice?
b. Try adding the digits of each of the first 10 multiples of eight.
What pattern do you notice this time?
                            c.  Do the same with the multiples of seven.
What pattern do you notice this time?

Any number that ends in zero or five can be divided by five.
How can you find out if a number can be divided by three?
Skip counting is a clue.
(The idea is that if some one gives you a number you will be able to tell if it can be    divided by three by looking at it and using the rule you have discovered.)
